Ankur and Priyanka Modi showcased their work – AM:PM – at Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive 2018. They returned to the fashion week with great pomp and show by presenting the Gypset, a term coined by Julia Chaplin to celebrate the neo-hippie. The collection was part-free-spirited vagabond and part-glamorous jetsetter.
The collection is inspired by their travel diaries from across the world and it is brought to life by the texture, print and embroidery. And reminiscing the Gypset lifestyle epitomised by style icons like Veruschka, Brigitte Bardot and Talitha Getty.
The Modis have always kept in mind the concept of wearable fashion, creating pieces that are modern interpretations of classic Indian wear. This collection mixes folklore with urban legends, ethnic inspiration with light weight fabric; thus creating an unexpected combination of styles. The colour palette used for the garments were reminiscent of deep desert hues. From forest green, sand, wine and chili red every hue used symbolises the simple pleasures the gypset finds joy in.
The garments were embellished with rich embroideries, stone and mirror work and leather detailing on silks, wools and organza. Each garment worn by the models were easy flowing yet fashionable making it a timeless creation.
The muse of the show leads a carefree lifestyle of gypsy with sophistication of a traveler. Keeping this in mind ,the AM:PM team created their collection for this year’s Lakmé Fashion Week Winter Festive 2018. And how!
