RmKV Silks Re-crafting Traditional silks in collaboration with Sunita Shanker. RmKV made their debut at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter Festive 2018 on sustainable fashion day.
The show started and ended with a Bharatanatyam dance performance from the transgender activist Dr. Narthaki Natraj, set-up in a garden-house of Chennai.
The show was an amalgamation of 12 garments on sustainable fabrics designed by Sunit Shanker. Their newest collection offers a contemporary twist on traditional outfits. The beautiful, bespoke sarees are designed and crafted by taking inspiration from a range of sources such as nature, art & architecture.
The collection caters to the younger audience with its reversible sarees and lightweight Lino range. It sees ancient natural dying techniques come to life with the usage of natural colours like turmeric, indigo, and others.
Shankar, designed the sarees that younger generation would wear on jumpsuits, trousers or dresses, making this a unique way of styling sarees.
The show stopper Sushmita Sen wore a jumpsuit with a draped saree. Giving the sarees a modern way to be worn. Almost a non-conformist way of styling sarees.
