Shazia’s target customers are women who are comfortable in their own skin and willing to experiment with different silhouettes, writes Meher Castelino
The ‘Shazzle’ label by Shazia Naik started in 2015 is all about sophisticated, ultra feminine, glamour that is just ideal for the Yuletide season. Shazia’s latest collection “Serafina” is aimed at the stylish woman who is extremely confident with grandiose ambitions.
Working around a strong colour palette for the garments, Shazia has selection of navy, rose pink, ox blood and nudes. Shazia has discreetly splashed sequins, stones and crystal embroidery to add that touch of Pizazz to the ensembles. Provocative thigh high slits will be real attention-grabbers while ruffles add a flirty touch to emphasise the soft feminine look.
Shazia, an expert pattern maker, learnt her fashion fundas with a postgraduation from ISDI Parsons, Mumbai and then further honed her skills at the London College of Fashion, London. Adding a business management degree from Jai Hind College, Shazia is very adept at not only creating two to three collections a year during the summer and festive seasons but also has the knowledge to manage her business efficiently.
A popular participant at various fashion weeks in India – Bangalore Fashion Week 2016, India Beach Fashion Week 2017 and more recently a fashion show in Mumbai – Shazia’s target customers are women who are comfortable in their own skin and willing to experiment with different silhouettes.
The ‘Shazzle’ label has two distinct lines – prèt and couture. The former comprises chic maxis, dresses, playful blouses, cropped tops and skirts; while the latter offers a line of detailed embroidered gowns, skirts, jumpsuits and two-piece sets. The western wear genre is definitely Shazia’s fortè, as she loves working with free flowing fabrics like georgette and organza, which are light weight, easy to wear and look uber glamorous. Embroidery comes in the form of pearls, crystals and sequins to add a subtle dazzle to the garments.
Shazia’s prices are between Rs 15,000 to Rs 50,000 with one flagship store. But her loyal customers can also buy her collections at Creo Lifestyle Mumbai, Fuel; Mumbai and Ahmedabad, Jhelum Fashion House; Mumbai and Pune, and Como Collectives, Goa. Shazia is available from Monday to Saturday 11 am to 7 pm at her flagship store and her terms of business are either consignment or outright buying for stores.
