Good ambience with funky visuals on the walls and a huge bar

We went for a working lunch as we were keen to try out the new offering in place of 5 Spice. Walked up to the third level (on the second floor) which has a bar. The ground level was closed for lunch service when we visited.

After being seated, we were given the food and alcohol menu. Food focus is quick bites, pizza, pasta and “bar food.”

Here’s what we ordered:

Chicken and Kale Salad – refreshing but the honey mustard dressing was too sweet (dessert level sweet)

Paneer Lapeta – pieces of tandoori paneer wrapped around yellow pepper pieces. Attractively served but nothing special in taste

Alfredo Pasta – not too cheesy, a generous helping served with garlic bread

NY Style Chicken – Peri Peri chicken, good portion and delicious, served with apple slaw, potato wedges and rice. A good dish from their signature collection

While we waited for the food – which came promptly, we checked out the interesting graphic art on the walls, the arty menu and the cocktails in interesting glasses that others were enjoying.

OPTIONAL: We wondered how a new eatery, yet not rated on Zomato had so many reviews (396) and photographs (2510) when we visited. We saw at least two tables with reviewers/bloggers while we were there, that explains the numbers…

What we liked:

The expansive look-and-feel of the place

The graphic art on the walls

The service

The food:

Was so-so, except for the NY Style Chicken

What we didn’t like:

Climbing up two flights of steps, making access a problem

The hair in the paneer. For which the server apologised and they didn’t put it on the bill.

The Carter Road Social is nearby, let’s see how this compares in the months to come. Foodwise Social beats House of Tipsy. It has a sea view too!
