Tamak is a cute little 20-seater eatery which has recently opened in Santa Cruz, close to the Rajesh Khanna garden. It offers North Indian food. The blue and yellow colours make it cheery (we visited on a rainy night) and the glassed-in kitchen allows diners to check out the action in the kitchen.
Started by Pranav whose family has been in the restaurant business, the accent of this restaurant is on amazingly tasty food and great service. Chef Vikram Arora and Pranav advised us on our order while we tucked into the papad and chutney; they actually prevented us from over-ordering as the portions are good.
Here’s what we ate:
- Lucknowi Tokri chaat (delicious amalgamation of textures and taste)
- Chowk ki tikki
- Kulcha stuffed with cheese, herbs and daubed with truffle oil
- Galouti kabab
- Tamak Mutton curry with roti (homely and we asked for boneless)
- Jalebi Rabri
Serving of dishes was done in an interesting manner – the meat was served in a pressure cooker lookalike!!
All the food was excellent but the absolute standout item was the cheese-stuffed kulcha. Never eaten anything remotely like this! Will return for this time and again.
It’s airconditioned, does not serve alcohol and has a one-step easy access. We reserved our table, You can order in on Zomato and Swiggy.
