TYGR is the new Modern Thai Bar & Grill and has replaced Rivers to Oceans (R2O). A well-designed contemporary, classy space with a large selection of wine on display and a semi-circular bar. A Thai menu with some American popular items, we chose to have Thai.
Brought to us by Zorawar Kalra of Massive Restaurants, one expects a lot in terms of innovative serving style. We weren’t disappointed.
We started with:
Soft Shelled Crab Salad (would have been great if the dry masala type “seasoning” had been less overpowering)
Scallop Carpaccio – outstanding
Snapper Spud Distinct Bagna Cauda
Pork Belly, Lotus Flour Bun – interesting
For mains, we had
Thai Green Curry with Prawns – good
Basil Fried Rice
Kanomjin Noodles
What I liked:
Great service
Good space and ambience
Helpful suggestions and personalisation for an allergy-prone diner
The experience was good and with its location I expect it will do well despite three other Asian offerings (all nice) at High Street Phoenix – Foo, Typhoon Shelter and Shizusan Shophouse.

Tara Bose Kapur is a foodie, a foodie and a foodie. When she’s not discussing food, she’s possibly talking about food. But there’s loads (or loaves) more that she does in life. Like being a communications consultant to the rich, famous and needy, and advising some of the hottest brands in the world in PR. And she runs a chhota bakery in Bandra that makes some yum (and sinful) stuff. For Xyngr, Tara Bose Kapur reviews eatspots around town. Xyngr reviews anonymously and pays for its meals.
