Lakmé Salon and Payal Singhal presents the ‘Show Stopping Bride’ at the Lakmé Fashion Week Winter Festive 2018.

The collaboration was to reinvent the rich bridal traditions for the contemporary Indian bride. “The Show Stopping Bride” collection by Lakmé Salon showcases refreshing take on contemporary bridal makeup and hair. Payal Singhal’s collection was brought to life by Lakmé Salon’s contemporary and glamorous makeup and hairdos which were inspired by the medieval and late medieval period.

The Show Stopping Bride hairstyles were inspired from medieval eras like the Harappan, Mughal and Satavahana period. Lakmé Salon incorporated soft yet intricate-detailing techniques like the low buns, loose knots, Harappan braids, bouffant and top knots that only added to the bride’s elegant and stylish looks.

The collection showcased a rich tradition of the past and today’s modern bride. Inspired by the hairstyles created by Lakmé Salon, Payal Singhal’s collection “Mu’asir” is an ode to the modern day bride. It means modern or contemporary in Persian.

The “Mu’asir” collection took its inspiration from folk art tapestry, one of the oldest handmade techniques in the world.

The designer used a variety of colour, starting with neutral grey, ivory and pastels like rose blush, mint, sage, cantaloupe, powder blue, bright yellow, coral and pink. Signal, didn’t stop there she added more colour to the ramp with emerald green, deep purple and navy.

The designer made sure it was New Age looks for shararas, concept sari dhotis and layered jackets. The designer used fabrics that flowed easily on the ramp, such as luxurious silks, georgettes and organzas that created a rich complexity for the wedding trousseau.

Tiny cholis with multi-coloured embroidered lehengas, tiered shararas, ruffled-edged net saris with bias cut blouses, sleek slim kaftan, cowl cape were seen on the models as they strutted down the ramp. Thus creating a great variety for bridal wardrobe.

The “Show Stopping Bride” had the perfect showstoppers for the evening Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi. Neha wore a full embroidered, empire line kurti and lehenga. Angad wore a matching embroidered button less sherwani, pale green kurta and churidars, as they happily strolled down the ramp.
